the greatest country singer ever.what ever it is that they call country music today is not country. you may as well call it rap,hip hop,or rock and roll but it is not country.i stopped listening to this [new country] long ago.when hank sings you can tell as well as see a picture in your mind what he sings about.like the song says-----murder has been comitted on music row.hank lives on forever. his greatest fan.

Gene Mathews from Jackson, AL says:

I am VERY disappionted with the lineup of entertainment this year! I have been coming for 16 years now and been well pleased but I too am tired of Brad Magness ,Starla Jones, and several others. I enjoy Terry Smith and Gene Watson but where are the 2 BIg names on Saturday? Mark Chesnutt is fine for the after noon like Doug Stone last year BUT were is the BIG STAR for the main act, Like Ray Price last year and The Oakridge Boy the year before and George Jone etc. This lineup leaves me cold and disappointed!!

I agree. This is almost the same show as last year. I have seen Juice Newton, The Oakridge Boys, George Jones, Kenny Rogers and many others performing all over the south. Surely there are some big names out there that would love to perform.

Posted: 4/9/2007 4:36 PM

melanie from georgiana, AL says:

the festival used to be fun, but i am tired of seeing the same tired old acts. brad magness could be left out, so could starla jones.....i mean this year the only one worth seeing would be mark chesnut. and that is it. most everyone i have talked to wishes the crew invovled would try to find fresh new country music acts. locally there are plenty, just a suggestion to draw younger people. when you are paying money you want some talent to watch.

Don't get me wrong, I like some Gene Watson but I was kinda let down the last time he was there. I will keep everyone posted.

Slim Forsythe & the Parklane Drifters from Pittsburgh, PA says:

Hello! We’re a Hank Williams Tribute/Traditional Country Swing Dance Party Band based in Steeltown, USA (Pittsburgh, PA). I believe you may have heard us on KDKA Radio back on November 25th. A nice lady from the Boyhood Home & Museum called into that program earlier that night and talked with the host, Carol Lee Espy. I sure hope you kept the dial there and heard our one-hour set. I just heard about your 2007 Hank Festival in Georgiana and was wonderin' if it's all booked up yet. Is there any chance we could play? Slim 412 361-8850 www.slimfpd.com

I really like Hank sr. music. My grandmother has told me stories about seeing him preform in the traveling medicine show. She thought he was wonderful. I don't know if this is true but i have heard that his song that refers to the one eyed sheriff, was the sheriff of our little town. I have also been in your museum and loved it.
