Hank Williams was a Country Legend. People still listen to his music to this day. It is sad about Don Helms passing away. I thought the two songs off Hank JR.'s new album. 127 rose avenue & the last driftin cowboy were great tributes to his daddy and don helms.

I am VERY disappionted with the lineup of entertainment this year! I have been coming for 16 years now and been well pleased but I too am tired of Brad Magness ,Starla Jones, and several others. I enjoy Terry Smith and Gene Watson but where are the 2 BIg names on Saturday? Mark Chesnutt is fine for the after noon like Doug Stone last year BUT were is the BIG STAR for the main act, Like Ray Price last year and The Oakridge Boy the year before and George Jone etc. This lineup leaves me cold and disappointed!!

I agree. This is almost the same show as last year. I have seen Juice Newton, The Oakridge Boys, George Jones, Kenny Rogers and many others performing all over the south. Surely there are some big names out there that would love to perform.

Posted: 4/9/2007 4:36 PM

melanie from georgiana, AL says:

the festival used to be fun, but i am tired of seeing the same tired old acts. brad magness could be left out, so could starla jones.....i mean this year the only one worth seeing would be mark chesnut. and that is it. most everyone i have talked to wishes the crew invovled would try to find fresh new country music acts. locally there are plenty, just a suggestion to draw younger people. when you are paying money you want some talent to watch.

Hello! We’re a Hank Williams Tribute/Traditional Country Swing Dance Party Band based in Steeltown, USA (Pittsburgh, PA). I believe you may have heard us on KDKA Radio back on November 25th. The gentleman and his wife who organized and conducted the contest for us are both in poor health and were unable to handle it this year. We did not have anyone that could follow the professionalism of Mr. and Mrs. Rohm. We apologize for any inconvenience to anyone. There will still be lots of activity around with the Fan Club cookout and jamming going on so everyone come expecting to have a good time.

I happened upon hank's gravesite years ago, I don't remember what part of town it was in. There was just a small sign by the edge of the road at the graveyard. If you ever get the chance to see the site, please do. The marble, layed out with his songs, encompass a large area. The headstones of him and audrey are just beautiful. His songs were some of the best I ever heard. I'm sorry he passed at such a young age

I don't know if I can say anything different than most loyal HANK fans. I was born in 1960, but lived my entire life listening to a man who had alot to say to this world. I truly believe he wanted more than life gave him. I surely hope that now he can see how important his music really is. There's nothing that could fill the void in my heart if it wasn't for HANK. I thank the LORD above for blessing us with such a great person. Keep singing HANK, I'm sure your audience is loving it.

John Adam Lyon from Clements, MD says:

My inspiration. What sets him apart from others is that his songs are a reflection of his life. Country music needs more simple yet devastatingly effective songwriting that Hank provided. Music would not be the same without his life.

David from Pittsburgh, PA says:

My curiosities developed when I began to view the country/folk spectrum. I noticed two significant artists. These were Hank Williams (of course) and Woody Guthrie. My question is, did they ever share a relationship together musically or of any other type. Have they ever been identified as a similar entity? They are both influential musicians from a similar genre of music but have they in any way ever been connected. I am aware that they were around in a close time zone to each other as in the years when they were musically active. Could someone shed any light on the issue? Many Thanks :)

Chris from Rock Springs, WY says:

I hope to visit the museum in early-'06 on a trip to AL. Good luck with your endeavors. Hank's music has meant a lot to me through the years. I am a singer/songwriter in the country and folk tradition and would not have turned in that direction were it not for Hank...and Woody Guthrie too. Hank is one of the few who reside in both the Country and Rock and Roll Halls of Fame and deservedly so. Thanks for the web-site and best wishes on your museum's success.
